At Things Go Wild we are passionate about the great outdoors. It is only fitting that the business we run here reflects our love for the planet and continue to look for ways we can make our company more eco-friendly. From maximising the use of recycled and recyclable materials, and using suppliers who recognise their environmental responsibilities to minimising packaging waste, we take a proactive approach to supporting our environment.

Our Green Policy details how we go about doing this, how our customers can help us and the steps we’re making to improve our business and become ‘greener’. Each year we implement new methods to reduce our impact on the environment, these will be added to our policy as they occur.

  • All containers used in our despatch department are recycled or if we can’t reuse them then they are recycled. We source some of the boxes from local businesses that would otherwise throw them away.
  • The larger brown boxes we purchase are enviro boxes which are made from 60 to 90% recycled materials. Materials used are 7% lighter, meaning lower transport costs. The process of manufacturing these boxes results in a 30% saving in CO2 emissions.
  • We encourage you to re-use our boxes; they are great for storage or you can get really creative and re-live your Blue Peter days! When they are finally ready for the bin, they can be recycled.
  • The packaging chips we use are manufactured from starch material, which is a fully compostable voidfill material and is 100% biodegradable. The product is fully soluble when saturated with water which takes away this issue of litter. It also conforms to EN13432. The manufacturing process for our voidfill material is a single stage process (compared with the manufacturing process for the polystyrene version, which is multi-stage, uses more energy so is less environmentally friendly). Starch is also an annually renewable resource.
  • The bubble wrap we use is biodegradable, a special additive is included during production to allow the bubble film to biodegrade within 12-24 months in land fill, and the harmless residue matter is then absorbed into the ground.
  • The tissue paper we use is made from recycled paper.
  • Our advertising leaflets are all designed and printed locally using FSC Certified Paper. We are aiming to use 100% recycled paper on all our leaflets in the very near future.

There is always more we can do………. this page will be updated as this happens
